Data Scientist

Join the new climate technology startup that is radically shifting the trajectory of global sustainability!

At Altruistiq we believe that business has the capacity to create benefit for all its stakeholders, but that this transition to stakeholder capitalism requires a new kind of corporate intelligence. Our company is developing the tools to underpin that intelligence - to track environment, social and governance indicators, define what needs to be done, and channel resources to where they are needed most. This could mean helping the world’s largest brands to change farming practices in India, wind down coal power plants in Africa, or increase the reusability of packaging materials in Europe.

We are building a SaaS product to help the world’s largest companies increase the sustainability of their global supply chains. We are an early-stage venture, backed by some of the world’s most recognisable names in sustainable investing, including the founders of multiple successful tech ventures (including 3 exits, and one unicorn), former chairs of Barclay’s Bank and UBS, and multiple CEOs from the private equity/asset management industry. Our company is post-revenue, working with category leaders in private equity, FMCG, food service and logistics. We are currently facing a massive, growing demand base and scaling up the team rapidly to meet it.

We are bringing together an exciting and innovative data engineering and data science team to develop the core data engine powering Sustainability reporting, analytics, improvement recommendations, and simulation for our customers. Machine Learning will play a critical role in providing more accuracy in Sustainability measurement, data harmonisation, and improvement optimisation. . You will have an opportunity to shape how data science can be used to improve large organisations' (multi-billion dollar revenues) sustainability initiatives, making a real impact on our climate and planet, whilst using the latest technology. As one of the first team members, you will also play a role in building out the data capability, bringing on new team members, and helping to build a fun, challenging, planet-conscious data science team!

About the Role

  • Build ontologies to solve for a fragmented and non-standardised data ecosystem
  • Collaborating with the engineering teams to establish good practice end-to-end model development and deployment (MLOps)
  • Establishing data science processes that encourage consistent innovation, fairness, transparency (explainability), rigour, and tangible business value realisation
  • About you::
  • Proven experience building models that have delivered measurable business value
  • Proven experience writing production-ready code
  • Strong Python, SQL, and PySpark development skills, including standard ML libraries and working with Big Data

  • Awareness around fairness and explainability and how to implement
  • Some experience around MLOps, CI/CD, and experiment tracking
  • This is a fantastic time to join and help shape an ambitious data science team for a company that wants to make a real difference in the world! If you are a motivated self-starter who enjoys working in a dynamic, fast-paced, and innovative environment, we look forward to hearing from you...!
